    I've warned everyone about it. One does simply not buy sandisk! They are the brand with the highest faulty cards. Yes they replace it with a new, for free. But you will never get back what was lost. And simply don't buy any card with the useless slider! That should be illegal to put on the cards!

    Yes Joshua the time has come. You have really proved your point and stayed true to the Canon250D and showed how much more than an entry level camera it is but as a professional photographer you need a professional level camera with 2 memory cards. I look forward to continuing with you on your journey and await with interest what you upgrade to. It will hurt your pocket but it will certainly be worth it in the long run. Best of luck man. 😅

    You mentioned you film on a LUMIX S5, so you’re probably already very familiar with the camera and its menu system. I’m going to nominate the LUMIX S5ii. Not very compact, but the images that come out of it are incredible. I recently watched a video where the guy demonstrated that the colour science is remarkably similar to Leica (I think they have a partnership). Also, it’s incredible value for money and the 20-60 lens that comes with it is one of the best kit lenses available. The issue I see is that lugging two S5’s around is not going to be good for your back 😂

    To help stop corruption on your SD card from happening I highly suggest you format it once in the computer after you transfer it over on default settings and then about maybe a week later something like that format the card in the camera that is very important I've had a few corrupt files matter of fact it happens on any SD card But I'm going to assume that you use Lightroom or a Photoshop and you put your files there first and then that's how you see that there corrupted but you might want to use Windows photo first that will actually preserve the files trust me on these ones

    • @TheJoshuaPeg
      @TheJoshuaPeg 7 днів тому

      Unfortunately in this case it corrupted in the camera body, so the camera itself couldn’t even read the files.

    Thanks Joshua, I get your pain. I live in Australia and I went for a holiday in Queensland - beautiful ❤️. However Queensland can be uncomfortably humid. On one of those humid days, I was sitting on a patio with my camera, changing a lens, cleaning etc. I left my SD card on the table for a few hours. Later that night, my family wanted to see the photos. I grabbed the SD card, put it in a reader and into my iPad. I heard a tiny, tiny fritz noise - corrupted 😢. The humidity had left some tiny droplets of water on the connecters😢. Did I have a back up SD? No. Did I have to an SSD drive? No. My bad😢.

    I've been waiting for this moment, the moment you think about upgrading. It's worth it. I only went up by 2Mp from a Canon600D to a 70D when the dioptre adjustment lens in the viewfinder came lose and I couldn't use eye level anymore. So i bought a secondhand 70D and it was a huge difference in feature and function. Perhaps the most useful is Back Button Focus and Lens calibration. Admittedly it's a single SD card slot, and I have been thinking about dual slots since they came on the market. The 20Mp of my 70D is quite enough and it's hard to justify the money for that one feature. But...

    Sorry to hear that Joshua! I saw the new Nikon Z6 is a beast, they also improved the autofocus a lot. I would suggest Canon, but their RF system has such expensive lenses, I own a Canon R6 and I`m looking forward to the 70 - 200 mm F 2.8 L USM lens for a while now, could prove to be a big win in landscape photography. No matter what you choose, keep delivering good content!

  • @markusi188
    @markusi188 8 днів тому

    you have totally outgrown the 250d. I just got an R6 (not mark II) a couple of weeks ago for a steal. It's an amazing camera and has two card slots so you can shoot with redundancy. If you can find one at a good price you'll have an amazing tool that won't let down your type of photography, two card slots, weather sealed for those misty rainy days and it's build like a tank. Needless to say it's got Ibis too and great video capabilities for those clips in between. It's been discontinued and so some shops are selling them off at really good prices. Can't go wrong.

  • @LolekBezBolkaShow
    @LolekBezBolkaShow 8 днів тому

    Since you're already a Canon user and you're thinking of upgrading, Josh I would strongly recommend a Canon R6. The mirrorles is such a huge upgrade that you wouldn't even suspect how much the technology has progressed. I was a Canon 600D (since 2012) user before I bought my R6 last September. When I started taking photos with the R6 (also a full frame vs APSC mind you) my jaw almost dropped on the floor. Those cameras open a whole new world of possibilities. The noise control with high ISOs, IBIS, full frame, 4k (log) video. It's also so easy to adapt old EF lenses. And it obviously has 2 memory card slots for redundancy 😅

    Usually landscape photography is not about rushing so you theoretically have enough time to put another card into the camera and push the shutter button again. At least that's what I do when I have a feeling the shot is worth having a backup. I just call it the poor photographer's double card slot. 😂

    Hey Josh, I've recently upgraded from my Canon 5d mark ii. Not for memory card issues, but it's not allowing me to progress the way I need/want too. It's an older camera, amazing for portraits and landscapes which is why I'm keeping it as my backup. Long story short, have a look at the Nikon Z5. It's got the 2 slots, full frame, and nice upgrades. Also it's at a pretty good price point now (if it's in your budget that is lol). Never thought I'd get a Nikon but I've no regrets. Hi Joshua. My friend lent me his spare Nikon D40X recently and said "you need to start shooting with a camera again, mate" (I had sold my film cameras many moons ago). He was right and it was good to be going around with a camera again. So, I bought a Nikon D300S (shutter count 90,000) and the 18-55mm GII VR for £170.00 including shipping, a sling bag from K&F was £40.00. Plus, SD cards and CF cards for the two card slots, and a wrist strap that came to £45.00. A clean, fifteen year old APSC 12 megapixel camera in great condition, including seals and rubber grips. The overall total was £255.00. A bargain in the current economic climate The camera is heavy but I have the sling bag in the front and rest the camera in/on it. You are right that entry level/older cameras having limitations, however, its about finding out what they are and shooting with those in mind. I have been taking pictures for a weeks and posted fourteen pictures onto a new Flickr page, (its gonna be quiet over there, ha,ha,ha) for a visual reference. Cameras are a great conduit for having conversations with people while out taking pictures its just about having a friendly approach and those chats lead onto other things. I consider the camera equipment I have just got to be an investment in creativity and life. Thank you for raising the topics in this video and enjoy the rest of your day, cheers.

    Hi Joshua. I am returning to photography with a DSLR after selling my film cameras many moons ago and just using my phone for Instagram etcetera (I was linked to this video after seeing your review of the K&F tripod). It was good to be reminded of things I already knew but had become complacent about previously when doing photography. I am new to your channel and don't know if its your sense of humour to have an image on your monitor that could be a metaphor that depicts "cant see the wood for the trees" when talking about checking the edge of frame. Anyway, you come across well and your Welsh tones are an advantage for audio/voiceover. I will take a stroll around your channel and IG page over the coming days.Cheers.

    LOL; that script was written by me 😇 . Trouble is I don't always follow it . Way back in film days my most used lens was a 50 F1.4 (preferable on the fully manual Fm2 Nikon) too much gear = confusion = frustration = lose of interest. Doesn't matter how much gear I carry , I can never get every photo I see ---- if I could get every photo, what would I do with them . No matter how much gear I carry I never seem to have the perfect focal length. Great advice in first video of yours I have seen . Loved the photos (and processing) you found in that beautiful light ---- not too much of that here in outback Australia .

    I find it still sad that canon did never go for a 35mm lens in the same price range also f1.8 as the famous 50mm. This would make so much sense to bundle with crop sensor dslrs. So amateurs get the true 50mm experience without going into spending thousands to get that full format sensor first. At that point you likely want to replace that black 50mm by a more expensive one. Missed opportunity from my POV. I do now hobbyist level photography for 20+ years and nobody ever came up with that for something around that pricepoint as far as im aware. Still being on a crop format DSLR is still enjoy the 50mm even thought it's 80mm. I can just imagine what a beautiful experience it must be to have actual effective 50mm F1.8 at hand

    With the final f11 image I presume focusing was on the rocks? I do however get confused when some photographers say focus a third into a landscape image. Is that if there’s no foreground interest? Great video man 👍📸

    You should start editing not only the photos but your videos too , with this flat profile 😉

    Excellent! Since I don't live in Patagonia I am not able to shoot epic photos 😉 Thank you for a good reminder about the basics. Pls continue with these kinds of videos, focus on the main objective, i e the photo.

    Interesting approach. Thanks for sharing. I give you a like, even though you are NOT an idiot.

    Hi Joshua, great video! Since i am a bit into nature / wildlife photography, for longer walks with the dog i carry a used EOS 5DsR and a Sigma 60-600 Sports. Saves the workout in the Gym ;-)
